It is with great sadness that Summit Packaging Systems announces the passing of our founder Gordon Gilroy, who passed away peacefully on January 27, 2026, at the age of 101.
Gordon’s life was defined by service, leadership, and entrepreneurial vision. A World War II Navy veteran, devoted family man and respected businessman, he built a legacy that continues to shape Summit Packaging Systems today.
In 1976, Gordon purchased Scovill Aerosol Valve in Manchester, New Hampshire, and under his leadership, the business developed into the global organization Summit is today, with manufacturing operations across North America, South America, and Europe. Gordon believed strongly that long-term success depends on both quality and people. He often said, “You can’t have a business without people. Take care of the people who take care of you.” That principle became part of Summit’s foundation and remains central to our company today.
On February 21, family members, friends, colleagues, and employees gathered at Manchester Country Club to celebrate Gordon’s life. The event brought together attendees from Summit locations around the world, reflecting the impact Gordon had across the business and the many relationships he had built over decades. Throughout the afternoon, stories were shared about Gordon’s leadership, character, and commitment to the company, as well as the personal relationships he maintained with employees, customers, and partners over many years.
Gordon remained closely connected to Summit well into his 100th year, visiting regularly and spending time with employees. Summit Packaging Systems is grateful for Gordon’s leadership, his vision, and the strong foundation he created for future generations. His legacy continues through the people, values, and long-term vision that remain at the heart of our company.
